Approximately 70 men attended the Adirondack CBMC breakfast on September 19th at the beautifully renovated Park Theater.
Jim O’Bryon, breakfast speaker, used both humor and wit as he shared real life examples of how God has enabled him to navigate through life’s challenges and enjoy life’s blessings. His deep and booming voice, which has served him well as both a radio disc jockey and a recording artist, easily kept those in attendance captive and caused the time to pass almost too quickly. Jim was intentional to point out that we were created by God for relationships, both human and divine, and that religion often gets in the way of this purpose. Quoting from the Scripture, men were reminded that our relationship with the Creator is based in Faith in Christ alone and not on any inherent goodness that might exist in our humanity or any good works that we might do. Credibility is always key for a speaker’s ability to connect with and impact an audience and Jim’s many successes in life from the government to corporate America delivered credibility in spades. Basking in the glow of this powerful and uplifting testimony, the men seemed to linger and enjoy the fellowship of others following the close of the breakfast. It was evident throughout the morning that the promise of God to be in the midst where there is a gathering in His name was clearly at play. It was an honor and privilege to have Jim O’Bryon share a small sampling of his life story with Adirondack CBMC.
